🌞 We hope everyone is enjoying a fun and relaxing summer break! We've received several calls from families looking to plan ahead—thank you for staying engaged and prepared. Here’s some helpful information about updating registration, school supplies, dress code, and start dates:

📝 Student Registration/Updates
We’re excited to welcome new and returning students for the 2025–2026 school year! You can update your information and register your child online at:
https://www.gsd.wednet.edu/page/registration

If you encounter any issues accessing your child’s form, our school office will reopen on July 28 and will be happy to assist you.

📅 Welcome Back to School Night – Thursday, August 21 at 4:30 PM
Come meet your child’s teacher and visit the classroom! This evening is a great opportunity to help your child feel welcomed, connected, and more confident as they prepare for the school year ahead. First day of school: Monday, August 25, 2025.

🎒 School Supplies
This year, the only item your child will need to bring is a backpack. There’s no need to shop for pencils, notebooks, crayons, or other classroom supplies.

To support our families, the school will be providing all essential classroom materials for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. We understand that back-to-school shopping can be costly, and we hope this helps ease the financial burden and makes preparation for the new school year a little simpler for everyone.

👕 Dress Code
A quick reminder that we have a student dress code in place to support a positive, distraction-free learning environment where all students feel comfortable, confident, and ready to learn.

Thanks for helping us create a focused and welcoming space by ensuring your child comes to school dressed within the guidelines.

Hello Roosevelt Families, Our district’s vision is for all students to be successful, responsible citizens who value themselves and support their community. To help realize this vision, we are committed to enhancing bilingual and multicultural understanding through our educational programs, particularly in our Dual Language initiative. As part of this effort, we’re connecting students' social studies learning with meaningful cultural experiences that align with Goal 3 of our Dual Language program, which focuses on developing bilingual and multicultural understanding. This is also aligned with the Washington State Social Studies Standard 1.1.2: Understands cultural contributions from various groups that have shaped the United States. This Friday, we’ll introduce Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) to our students. To clarify, Día de los Muertos is not connected to Halloween. Although both fall around the same time of year, Halloween may focus more on costumes, candy and spooky themes, while Día de los Muertos is a Mexican tradition dedicated to honoring and remembering loved ones who have passed away. It centers on family, memory, and cultural heritage, rather than themes of fear or fright. With roots in ancient Mesoamerican practices, Día de los Muertos emphasizes the cultural, not religious, aspects of this tradition. This focus allows students to explore and appreciate the richness of diverse cultures. Additionally, we're aligning with similar cultural activities being done at both the middle and high school levels, fostering consistency in how Día de los Muertos is presented across schools in our district. We invite you to visit our altar display in front of the office Friday to learn more about this cultural tradition! Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
