As we begin the new year, we want to highlight the importance of positive mindset and growth skills that help children build confidence, perseverance, and resilience both in and out of school.
Families play a powerful role in shaping how children talk about challenges, mistakes, and effort. Simple conversations at home can help children understand that learning takes time and that it’s okay not to get things right the first time.
Conversation Starters for Home
You might try asking:
What was something tricky you worked on today?
What did you try when something felt hard?
What’s something you’re proud of trying, even if it didn’t go perfectly?
What could you try differently next time?
These questions help children focus on effort, problem-solving, and growth rather than perfection.
Supporting a positive mindset helps children feel more confident taking risks, asking for help, and learning from challenges. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s social and emotional growth.
If you have any concerns or need support, our counselors are here to help! 509-854-1420
